Welcome

A massive welcome back to all the boys, girls and parents/guardians of St Thomas JNS. It is great to hear everybody around the school and to see all the happy faces returning to and joining the school. I would also like to extend a huge welcome to all the new children and parents/guardians who join St. Thomas J.N.S this year. I hope everybody has a wonderful and happy year in school.

County Photos

County Photos are coming into the school on the 23rd of September for the Junior Infant photo. Every child in Junior Infants must wear the school uniform not the school tracksuit on Tuesday the 23rd of September. Please do put this date in your diary.

New ICT Equipment

I am delighted to let all parents know that the school has invested heavily in new ICT equipment for all pupils in the school. We have managed to buy 60 Chrome Books and accompanying charging docks for the children to engage in project work and coding activities. We have also acquired 30 new tablets and accompanying charging dock for the children to engage in literacy and numeracy and phonological games. I would like to thank Jonathan Coleman for all the work he has done. All of these investments would not have been possible without the assistance and generosity of the Parents Association, the parents of the school and the Board of Management.

Parents Association AGM

We'd like to invite all parents to the Annual General Meeting (AGM) for the School Parents Association.

This year's AGM will be held on Wednesday, September 17th, at 8:00 PM in the school hall.

Becoming part of the Parents Association is a fantastic way to get more involved in our vibrant school community and meet other parents. There are many ways to contribute, whether you have a lot of time to give or just a little.

We've been incredibly busy this past year, and it's all thanks to the dedication of our outgoing committee. We want to extend a huge thank you for all their hard work!

The PA has had a packed schedule, supporting numerous initiatives for our children. A few highlights include:

  • Fundraising for new IT equipment
  • Hosting treats for Halloween and Christmas
  • Coordinating Santa visits and an ice cream truck treat
  • Supporting events like Grandparents' Day
  • Running raffles at Easter and Christmas
  • Children's Christmas cards
  • Hosting our Communion party
  • Kitting out the nurture room

The list goes on, and it's a true testament to the time and effort given by our volunteers. All of the money raised goes directly back to our school.

Please come along to the AGM to hear more about our plans for the upcoming year and all the different ways you can get involved. We will also be electing our new committee members. There will be refreshments afterward so it's a great chance to chat and learn more.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Olive Bourke

Wet Mornings

Please read the wet morning procedures for the coming year.

  • Junior Hall – Rooms 1-8 children may enter the building at the side door of the P.E hall as usual. Parents are asked not to enter the hall. All teachers will be in the classrooms waiting for the children.
  • Senior Hall – Rooms 17-23 children may enter the building at the side door of the P.E hall as usual. Parents are asked not to enter the hall. All teachers will be in the classrooms waiting for the children.
  • Modular classrooms and Prefabs – Rooms 9-16 in the yard may bring the children to the classroom door. We ask that parents enter the yard via the gates at Cannon Brook and the Car Park gate and not through the main school building.

We greatly appreciate your co-operation in this regard.

Gentle Reminder

As the children are settling back into school, could I please remind parents of the following:

  • There is no supervision in the yard before 9 a.m. Please stay with your child until teachers arrives.
  • The yard gate closes at 9:05am for the safety of the children so once the teacher has arrived at the line, parents can leave to ensure that the gates are closed by 9:05am.
  • Please do not knock on the window while the children and teachers are in class.
  • Drive slowly around the school.
  • Dismount bikes and scooters when entering the school.

Le meas,

Mr. Coleman
