Dear Parents/ Guardians,

International Day of Older Persons is on Friday October 6th. Grandparents of children in Second Class are invited to come along to their Grandchild’s class at 11.15am to join their Grandchildren. Each child has been issued with an attendance form should their grandparents wish to take part. If you have not received a form- please contact your child’s teacher. Thank you to Ms. Power who is leading this event in the school.

Tesco We are delighted to be included in the current round of the Tesco Ireland Community Fundraising programme at TESCO, Hillcrest Lucan. If you’re shopping in this store over the next week or two, we’d really appreciate if you’d vote for us using your blue token. A big thank you to Sandra Carpenter of TESCOs Hillcrest who kindly met with Lorna Kehoe of our PA and Ms. Moynihan last week to launch the fundraising event. All money raised will go towards the work of the Parents Association in the school which in turn helps each child attending St. Thomas’ JNS.

Staying Safe online WebwiseParents Hub has free advice, information, and resources to help keep children safe online. In the digital age, please take some time to look at the content by clicking on the following link so we can keep our children as safe as possible online. https://www.webwise.ie/parents/

Pupil Personal Accident Insurance It is that time of year again when we consider the benefits of our children being insured for the coming year. The current scheme utilised by the school through Allianz provides a simple and effective claim system that is easy to access and utilise, if and when required. If you already hold a medical card, it does not preclude you from joining and using the scheme when an accident occurs inside and outside school.

Our Parents’ Association make a group application on the scheme on behalf of the school entitling them to a small discount which is put towards the purchase of classroom equipment. There are many excellent benefits in the scheme and these can be viewed at https://www.allianz.ie/products/schools/schools-insurance.html

The scheme will remain open until Friday 6th October 2023. The scheme offers cover for your child for 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year at a reasonable cost €9 or for the school hours only at a cost of €6 . Payment should be made via Aladdin.

Best wishes,

Teresa Moynihan
