Special Thank You
A very special thank you to Ms. Mason, the Student Council and the wonderful Book Fair Team for all their hard work, time and creativity last week. It was a joy to watch every single child, teacher, SNA and staff member get involved and share the joy of reading. Children took part in a range of exciting events including library visits, plays, concerts, DEAR time amongst others.
Christmas Visual Arts Exhibition
We are thrilled to announce our upcoming School Art Exhibition on Tuesday the 10th of December. A special event showcasing the incredible creativity of our students. Each child’s artwork will be beautifully framed and displayed, making it a moment of pride for both students and families.
As part of this event, you will have the opportunity to purchase your child’s FRAMED MASTERPIECE for just €5. All proceeds from the exhibition will go toward a meaningful cause: transforming our old staffroom into a Nurture Room - a welcoming space designed to support the wellbeing and development of all children in our school.
Event Details:
Date: Tuesday 10th of December
Time: 1:40pm – 3:30pm
Venue: Junior and Senior Halls
As a special thank you, when you purchase your child’s frame you will also be entered into a raffle for the chance to win some exciting prizes!
Christmas Carol Service
We will be holding a short Christmas Carol service in St Patrick’s church on the 12th of December at 11:15 (time subject to change should urgent parish needs arise). Children will sing carols and read Christmas poems. Please feel free to dress the children in Santa hats or Christmas jumpers. Parents /guardians are more than welcome to attend but we aware it is a very busy time of year so please do not put yourselves under pressure to attend.
Saint Vincent De Paul Food Drive
In the spirit of giving we will be collecting non-perishable foods to donate to St Vincent de Paul. We encourage all children to bring in something or whatever families can give at this time to donate for St Vincent de Paul. It is a great opportunity for children to experience giving to others. All non-perishable, store cupboard items, such as biscuits, pasta, dry grains, tins, boxed/packaged foods are suitable. The school will be collecting the items from November 25th right up until December 12th. The charity of St Vincent De Paul has a profound impact helping families in our local community and needs all the support we can give in their annual appeal. The school will be presenting the donations to representatives from the St. Vincent de Paul at the Christmas Carol Service.
Parents Association Calendar 2025
A special thank you to the Parents Association for all their hard work and time. They really do a tremendous amount of work for the school. We have just received the Annual Calendar back from print and it LOOKS GREAT. The P.A will be selling the calendar in the school directly after school all next week in the school yard. They are priced at €3 each or two for €5.
Parents Association Raffle
The P.A have been working hard in getting some wonderful prizes for their annual Christmas raffle. The tickets go on sale at the same time as the calendars and you can buy one ticket for €3 or two tickets for €5. If you are not in, you cannot win!!!
Special Visitor
St Thomas JNS are delighted to be inviting the most special visitor to the school on December 16th. I cannot wait to see who the visitor is as the P.A are keeping this a secret from all staff and children!!!
Principals Note
As winter has definitely arrived to our shores, can all parents/guardians please ensure that all children have a warm coat for yard. It is great to see the children eating all of their hot lunches. Please ensure that the correct hot lunch is selected for your child.
School Closure
The school will be closed on Friday the 29th of November for the General Election and Monday the 2nd of December for a training day.
Have a lovely weekend.
Kind regards,
Russell Coleman
