Dear Parents/ Guardians,

Incoming Junior Infants September 2024-2025 Admissions for incoming Junior Infants for the next academic year 2024-2025 is available. The Expression of Interest form is available online via Aladdin. Parent Teacher Meetings will be held on Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th of November. 1st and 2nd class pupils will go home at 2.20pm on these two days. Further details to follow.

Halloween Dress Up We are encouraging all children to dress up this Friday, 27th October in clothes of their choosing.

Photographs: County Photos will take photographs of children in Senior infants, 1st Class and Second Class on 6th November. This is the first Monday back after the Halloween break. Children are to wear full school uniform on that day. If you would like a sibling photograph with a brother/sister in St. Thomas’, please let the class teacher know via sending an email to info@stthomasjns.com. You will receive proofs from the photographer with the option to buy.

W.O. W. Witches or Wizards Walk will take place on Friday 27th October. Join us all for our next W.O.W. (WALK ONCE A WEEK! Bring your broomsticks, Cast your spells, Gather your potions, Before the school bell. Show you care! Give teacher a scare! Walk to school...is the magic rule! Calling all Witches, Wizards, Vampires, Mummies, Ghosts, Princesses to our walk to School morning! Help our environment by walking to school. PARK N STRIDE allows families who live further away to participate in the launch. Simply park at the Lord Lucan car park. Assemble from 8.20am onwards. Leaving carpark at 8.30am. thank you to Ms. Power for organising.

Green Schools Sustainable Travel We have a beautiful new sign at our school entrance reminding and encouraging us to WALK ONCE A WEEK ( WOW) As a school with Green Schools status, we are encouraging families to use a sustainable (And healthy!) form of travel to and from school. Why not get a little group together from where you live and walk once a week ( or more!) enjoy the chat and walk together! Best of luck everyone and we’ll see you all at our Spooky WOW this Friday!

Mid Term Break Camp Ms. O'Reilly, Mr. Kelly and Ms. Doherty will be running a Halloween Camp in St. Thomas’ JNS from Tuesday the 31st of October until Friday the 3rd of November. The camp will run from 10:00 until 14:30 daily. The camp will include activities such as Science experiments, sports, STEM challenges, yoga and many more! The camp is €85 per child with a sibling rate of €80. For further information please contact lucankidscamp@gmail.com Places are prioritised to existing students of St Thomas JNS. All camps and after schools’ activities are run independently of St. Thomas’ JNS.

Coding Club Mr. Kelly and Ms. Foley are running a coding club after midterm for 1st and 2nd classes. These classes will run every Tuesday and Thursday for 6 weeks starting on the 7th of November. The classes will run from 14:40 - 15:40. The club will teach beginners the basics of coding using Scratch JR and will allow more experienced children to develop their coding skills by creating their own games and challenges. The cost of the club is €50 for 6 weeks. Places are limited to 15 per group and the running of the classes are subject to adequate interest. Please email coolcodingclub@gmail.com to secure a space.

Lego Club Mr. Kelly and Ms Christian will be running Lego club after the Halloween break on Monday's from 14:40 - 16:00. The cost of the club is €50 for 6 weeks. The club will equip children with problem solving and critical thinking skills while promoting teamwork and fine motor skills. For more information please email eskerlegoclub@gmail.com

Smiling Soul Kids Yoga Kids yoga will start on Tuesday the 7th of November – 12th of December for 6 weeks in Room 19. Available for all classes. Kids yoga gives children an opportunity to explore body and mind while gaining strength, flexibility and balance through fun positive and relaxing activities. They will benefit from learning life skills, which would help them to cope with stressful situations and build self-esteem and can enhance creativity. New Sports Club block starting November 7th for 1st and 2nd class children. Sports Club runs on a Tuesday and Thursday. If your child is interested in joining you can email Ms O’Reilly on stthomassports@hotmail.com for more information.

Speech and Drama Club runs in the school on a Monday afternoon from 2.40 -3.45 for 1st and 2nd second classes. To register your interest please email eskerdramaclub@gmail.com Benefits include: Development of oral language and expression skills. Gain confidence speaking to an audience. Develop imagination skills and allow children an opportunity to discover their own creative styles through role play, drama games and oral language activities.

Morning Club will start again from Monday the 6th of November. Children can be dropped into school from 8am each morning and will be supervised by a qualified teacher.
