Fond Farewell

Grainne Power, known to most as Mrs Power, will be finishing up in St Thomas J.N.S. She first started teaching in St Cronan’s in Brackenstown in Swords and moved to St Thomas’ in September 2000. After many years of service, she is looking forward to starting her very well-earned retirement. Everybody in the school community from children, parents, teachers and the Board of Management would like to wish Ms. Power the very best in her retirement.

Happy Hallowe’en

Happy Hallowe’en to all the boys and girls of St. Thomas J.N.S. It was great to see all of the scary and not so scary costumes on show during the Spooky Parades. Let’s hope the weather is better for Hallowe’en night.

Parent Teacher Meetings

Parent Teacher Meetings will take place during the week beginning the 11th of November. The class teacher will be in touch with a time and date for each child’s meeting.

Class Photo

Class photos for Senior Infants – Second Class will take place on Monday the 4th November of 2024. We ask that all children are wearing their full uniform for the photo with County Photos.

P.E Equipment

Ms Nolan has arranged for the school have brand new P.E equipment arriving after the mid-term break. The new equipment includes gymnastics equipment, javelins, frisbees, hurdles, beanbags, a parachute and lots of soccer balls, Gaelic footballs, tennis balls and foam balls.

Book Week

Ms. Mason has organized a full week of events for our upcoming Literacy Week which is running from the 11th – 15th of November. The children will partake in an array of activities including Station Fun, Guest Readers, Author Visits, Yard Disco, Bed Time Reading Challenges, Scavenger Hunt and Book Fair Visits.

Date for your Diary – St Thomas J.N.S Christmas Art Exhibition

Ms. Carragher is organising our first ever Christmas Art Exhibition. This is a night you do not want to miss. More information to follow. Please try to keep the evening of Tuesday the 10th of December free in your diary.

Reminder

As the children are settling back into school, could I please remind parents of the following:

  • There is no supervision in the yard before 9 a.m. Please stay with your child until teachers arrives.
  • Drive slowly around the school.
  • Dismount bikes and scooters when entering the school.
  • Ensure you child has a winter coat.

Principals Note

I would like to wish all staff members a nice, relaxing well-earned break. Thank you for all your support and guidance and hard work over the first term. It is clear to see the children of St Thomas J.N.S are benefitting from such a wonderful team.
