School Garden - TOMORROW

This Saturday work will be commencing on our school garden at the front of our building between 12pm and 2pm. We are encouraging all parents/guardians to get involved. No prior experience or green fingers needed! All help is welcome and truly appreciated. Tea, coffee and a few treats will be provided. This is a great opportunity to get involved in the school community.

Student Council

Our student council have had their first meeting. Ms. Lawlor is working hard with the council to ensure our student’s voices are heard. Here at St Thomas JNS the students are at the forefront of every decision.

Parents Association Annual General Meeting

The Parents Association AGM on Monday the 16th of September was a great success with many new faces. Our parent’s association is very active and hardworking and are always looking for volunteers.

MMR Vaccination and Hearing and Vision Forms – Junior Infants

The HSE School Vaccination Team plan on visiting St Thomas’s National School on Monday 14th & Tuesday 15th October 2024. Please be sure to read the information carefully and return the forms signed to the class teacher. Thank you in advance.

Insurance

Due to popular demand the scheme will remain open until the end of the month. This scheme covers your child for 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year at a very reasonable cost of only €10. We highly recommend this scheme to all families. Payment can be made through Aladdin.

Pyjama Day

I would like to thank the Parents Association who hosted their annual Pyjama Day in the school today. It was a great success and raised vital funds for the Parents Association in order to support our school. The children thoroughly enjoyed their cosy day in school and we look forward to another one next year.

Reminder

As the children have settled back into school, could I please remind parents of the following:

  • The church/school carpark is not available to parents at drop off and collection times without a permit. This is to ensure child safety.
  • Children are to be in their line at 5 to 9
  • Once the bell has been rung we need all parents to stand back behind the yellow lines away from the children lining up. Parents/guardians may not stand in the children’s lines. Unfortunately, it blocks other children and disrupts the lines. If for any reason your child cannot line up by themselves after the bell has been rung please discuss this with their class teacher after school.

We greatly appreciate your co-operation in this regard. Our aim is to move the children into the school as quickly and as safely as possibly each morning.

Kind regards,

Mr. Coleman
