Christmas at St. Thomas JNS

A very special thank you to the Parents Association and Phil for their unbelievable work arranging all the Christmas Decorations in the school. I witnessed the time they gave to this very special part of the school year for all the boys and girls and staff too! The full staff would like to pass on our thanks.

Children happy in the yard

Ms. Nolan has been working hard on getting new resources and has now organised all of the games in the school yard. This initiative was rolled out to the senior classes this week. The level of planning Ms. Nolan has given to this initiative is reflected in the joy and happiness of the children as they get more active during yard time. It is also great to see the children being creative and coming up with their own games in the yard and it is lovely to watch them play in their groups with a smile on their faces. Thank you to Ms. Nolan for making this possible.

Special Visitor

St Thomas JNS are delighted to be inviting the most special visitor to the school on December 16th. I cannot wait to see who the visitor is as the P.A are keeping this a secret from all staff and children!!!

Gaeilge ar scoil

Le linn na tionóil an seachtain seo, bhí sé ar fheabhas na paistí a chloistáil ag labhairt as Gaeilge. Bhí siad comh sásta í a labhairt agus bródúil as doibh fhéin. Mile buíochas do na muinteorí ar fad tar éis cabhair iontach a thug siad leo. Buíochas specialta do Ms. O’loughlin as an iarracht olmhór tar éis á dhéanamh.

Parents /guardians are more than welcome to attend but we aware it is a very busy time of year so please do not put yourselves under pressure to attend.

Parents Association Calendar 2025

A special thank you to the Parents Association for all their hard work and time. They really do a tremendous amount of work for the school. We have just received the Annual Calendar back from print and it LOOKS GREAT. The P.A will be selling the calendar in the school directly after school all next week in the school yard. They are priced at €3 each or two for €5. When they are gone, they are gone!!! PLEASE NOTE – the PA will be selling the Calendars and Raffle Tickets in the main reception during rainy day collection times; 1.40 and 2.40 p.m.

Parents Association Raffle

The P.A have been working hard in getting some wonderful prizes for their annual Christmas raffle. The tickets go on sale at the same time as the calendars and you can buy one ticket for €3 or two tickets for €5. If you are not in, you cannot win!!!

Saint Vincent De Paul Food Drive

In the spirit of giving we will be collecting non-perishable foods to donate to St Vincent de Paul. We encourage all children to bring in something or whatever families can give at this time to donate for St Vincent de Paul. It is a great opportunity for children to experience giving to others. All non-perishable, store cupboard items, such as biscuits, pasta, dry grains, tins, boxed/packaged foods are suitable. The school will be collecting the items from November 25th right up until December 12th. The charity of St Vincent De Paul has a profound impact helping families in our local community and needs all the support we can give in their annual appeal. The school will be presenting the donations to representatives from the St. Vincent de Paul at the Christmas Carol Service.

Principals Note

I would like to wish all the parents and children the very best this weekend and hope they enjoy watching the Late Late Toy show! Plenty of chocolate and popcorn at the ready!

Kind regards,

Russell Coleman
