Welcome to St. Thomas’ JNS, and to all visitors to our school website from Ireland and abroad.
St. Thomas’ JNS is a co-educational primary school situated in the community of Esker, to the south of Lucan village and approximately ten kilometres west of Dublin city centre. From our humble beginnings in temporary accommodation, the school has grown into a vibrant and diverse school community of over 565 pupils and over 50 staff.
Our school community reflects the rich diversity of modern Ireland, with pupils from more than thirty nationalities and a wide range of cultural and religious backgrounds. While St. Thomas’ JNS has a Catholic ethos, we are committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment where every child is valued, respected and supported as an individual. A strong culture of mutual respect is central to the relationships between our pupils, staff and families.
At the heart of our school is a commitment to educational excellence. We strive to provide the highest standards of teaching and learning, with a broad and balanced curriculum that enables every child to discover their strengths, experience success and develop a lifelong love of learning. We set high expectations for our pupils and for ourselves, and continually strive to improve and achieve the very best for every child in our care.

We support our pupils to thrive academically, socially, emotionally and personally, developing the confidence, independence, resilience and life skills they need to participate fully and positively in the world around them. We aim to provide a happy, safe and stimulating learning environment where children feel valued, supported and encouraged to reach their full potential. Our dedicated staff work in partnership with pupils and parents to create a positive school experience in which every child can flourish.
